As a relative newcomer to the game of golf and as a relatively new member of Wetherby Golf Club, I am honoured and delighted to be asked to be Rabbits' Captain.  Golf is a pursuit that I now wish I had taken up much earlier in my life which is due, in no short measure, to the tremendous amount of fun I have had playing the game with some of the terrific friends I have made here at Wetherby Golf Club and, through Rabbits’ Golf, at other clubs in the area. 

This season, yet again, we have another full fixture list playing matches against some magnificent local golf clubs, both at home and away, as well as playing against other sections of our own membership such as the Tigers, the Juniors and the Ladies.  Our annual trip is to Easingwold in June and, in addition to our competitions running throughout the year plus our Open Day (which attracts 200 players from all over Yorkshire), this year we are proud to host the Millennium Trophy at Wetherby.

I should like to take this opportunity to invite more higher handicappers to become Rabbits and join the most exciting section within WGC and, at the same time, to invite lower handicappers to play as Associates, while imploring the more enlightened to let their friends know just what they have been missing. I look forward to enjoying the friendly fixtures, the competitions and the best social events with as many friends, old and new, as possible.  I look forward to meeting you on the course, in the clubhouse or at the bar.

I always thought golf was such a serious game but I have probably never laughed as much as I have done from when I began trying to swing a club.  Rabbits are passionate about golf – not just about playing golf but about enjoying golf. Be a Rabbit.
